Pitted Acne Scars That Won't Fade? A Microneedling Facial Might Help

Serving Winter Haven, Auburndale, Lake Alfred, Dundee, Haines City, and Eagle Lake

A lot of people come to us after a bad experience, including the kind of facial that left them with an allergic reaction and a real fear of trying again. If you’re dealing with pitted (atrophic) acne scars, a microneedling facial is one of the most reliable ways we have to improve texture over time because it encourages collagen remodeling. It’s not instant, and it’s not for active cystic breakouts, but for the right skin it can be a smart next step.
Pitted acne scars aren’t “dirt” or “pores”, they’re texture that needs rebuilding
Pitted acne scars usually form when inflammation from past breakouts damaged deeper layers of skin and your body didn’t lay collagen back down evenly. That’s why they hang around long after the acne calms down. Makeup can sit weird on them. Certain lighting makes them look sharper. And sometimes you’re doing all the “right” skincare and still not seeing texture change.
We also see a local pattern in Winter Haven and the Havendale area: hot, humid summers can keep skin reactive, and lake days on the Chain of Lakes make sun protection harder than it sounds. If you’re trying to schedule real skin work, you need a plan that fits your life. That means clear guidance on timing, simple aftercare rules, and picking days when you can actually protect your skin.
Quick reality check: products can improve glow and calmness, but true pitted texture usually needs a collagen-stimulating service like facial needling.
Why our Microneedling Facial targets pitted scars (and why it takes a series)
Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure that involves creating tiny punctures in the skin using sterilized needles. That controlled “micro-injury” signals your skin to build fresh collagen and elastin. For pitted acne scars, that rebuilding is the point. Over multiple sessions, the surface tends to look smoother, pores often look tighter, and makeup usually sits better because the skin isn’t as uneven.
Our Microneedling Facial is 80 minutes and $179. We start by talking through your scar pattern, sensitivity history, and what “better” actually means to you. A lot of our acne clients care just as much about avoiding irritation as they do about results, so we move carefully and keep the plan realistic.
“I left feeling refreshed, cared for, and most importantly without any irritation. I can already see a difference in how my skin looks and feels.”

Most people do best with a series of treatments. A common plan is 3–6 sessions spaced 4–8 weeks apart. You’ll usually see changes build gradually, not overnight. And yes, there’s some downtime. Redness and a little peeling can be normal, and that’s where Winter Haven lifestyle matters. If you’re on Havendale Blvd NW and you’re always outdoors or on the water, we’ll help you time your appointments so you can protect your skin when it’s most vulnerable.
Aftercare is not optional. Strong sun, sweaty workouts, and lake water too soon can set your progress back. We’ll keep the rules simple so you can actually follow them.
Is microneedling the right call, or should we start with a microderm facial or microinfusion facial?
Microneedling tends to be a great fit for pitted or rolling scars, enlarged pores, and uneven texture that won’t budge. It’s also popular with people who want real progress but still want a plan that feels manageable, especially if you’re coming in from Auburndale, Lake Alfred, or Dundee and you don’t want to guess your way through recovery.
We’ll pause and choose a different route if you have active cystic acne, a history of keloid-type scarring, or you’ve been on isotretinoin recently (commonly within 6–12 months, based on your prescriber’s direction). In those cases, a microderm facial or a microinfusion facial can make more sense first, then we circle back to facial needling when your skin is stable.

Why Winter Haven clients trust us with microneedling and sensitive, acne-prone skin
Two things matter when you’re trying to improve acne scarring: the service itself, and the way it’s handled. Our regulars talk a lot about how clean and comfortable our space feels, and how clear our instructions are. One microneedling client put it simply: minimal downtime and post-care that made sense.
“The downtime was minimal, and the post-care instructions were super clear.”

Pre-care and aftercare rules that protect your results in Havendale heat and lake weather
Before your microneedling facial
Before a microneedling session, avoid exfoliation such as scrubs or acid-based products for at least one week. It is also recommended to avoid sun exposure and refrain from using irritating topical products for at least 48 hours prior to treatment. If you’re not sure what counts as “acid-based, ” bring your skincare or send us a photo of the labels and we’ll help you sort it out.
After your microneedling facial
Plan for modest downtime. Redness is common right after, and some people get a dry, tight feeling or light flaking as the skin settles. In Winter Haven, the biggest risk is treating it like a normal day outside. Keep sun exposure low and wear SPF. And skip lake swimming in the immediate recovery window, since water exposure and heat can irritate freshly treated skin.
Scheduling tip: If you’re planning a weekend on the Chain of Lakes, book microneedling on a week when you can stay out of strong sun for a bit. Your results will thank you.
